Duolingo’s notifications allow us to stay motivated and continue with our language courses, but I’m sure you’ll agree that sometimes they can be a little passive-aggressive.
There’s nothing worse than getting an email saying that Duo is sad because you didn’t study that day. So I wouldn’t blame you at all if you turned your notifications off.
However, disabling them can easily make us forget to continue with our course.
If that’s your case, and you don’t remember anything about the language that you were trying to learn, try resetting or restarting the Duolingo course by following this quick guide:

Mobile app (Only available for iOS devices):
Moving on, please force stop Duolingo to refresh any background processes.
The process of force quitting an app may vary on your device’s model, but if you’re using a Windows PC, open the task manager, click on the browser you’re using, and click on “End Task”.
And if you’re using your iPhone or iPad, you may close Duolingo by swiping up from the bottom of your screen and pausing in the middle. Then, swipe up on the app. Please note that if your device has a home button, you’ll need to double-click it to see the apps that are running in the back.
Once you’ve completed the steps above, launch Duolingo again. You should be able to start your course from the beginning without further trouble.
But, if that didn’t work, you may need to delete your account to restart or reset a Duolingo language course.
Don’t worry, though. Keep reading to learn how to do it.
I know, this is probably the last thing you wanted to do, especially if you’re learning other languages. But, if the fix above didn’t do the trick, this just might.
