Let’s start off by talking about one of the most common ways to boost your progress – skill multipliers.
These are available now and then either during random activations or special events. I wouldn’t worry too much about missing out on these, since Duolingo always notifies users as soon as they’re up for grabs.
You can also buy them on the Duolingo store for a certain amount of gems that you earn as you advance through the course’s levels. And on some rarer occasions, you’ll also be rewarded with these multipliers after completing a few lessons in a row during a short period.
As of today, the platform offers XP boosters that double what you earn after each lesson. Perhaps some time in the near future, they’ll make more powerful boosters that triple or quadruple your XP, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Rising through the leagues’ ranks is a competition after all, so giving too much experience to players would take out the fun of it all.
Make sure to be on the lookout and claim your XP Booster rewards when you earn them. Remember that they only last for 15 minutes, so try to use them when you know you won’t be interrupted or distracted during that short window.
If you’ve been at this for a while, you’ve probably noticed that, as you move through the course’s levels, some of the lessons you’ve already cleared start breaking. This is completely normal, as it’s the platform’s way of encouraging you to keep studying the things you already learned.
The beauty in this is that, even after clearing a lesson, you’ll still get XP for restoring it. Now, bear in mind that you won’t get the same amount as you would for a new one. You can expect to be awarded anywhere between 5-10 XP per restored lesson, which might not be a lot, but it’s something.
Besides, you already know all there is to know to pass those particular lessons with flying colors, so it should be like stealing candy from a baby (please don’t do that).
Following along the lines of the previous point, let’s discuss perfecting your previous lessons. This might sound the same as restoring them, but it’s not.
You see, in order to restore a broken lesson, all you have to do is clear it again by getting enough right answers, whereas perfecting them requires you to make zero mistakes. If you think about it, being able to keep earning XP points by repeating a lesson you already cleared is a great advantage.
And the best part is that, if you feel confident enough, you can both restore and perfect a lesson in one go. This will of course test your patience and skills, but as long as you’ve been consistent with your daily training, it should pose no challenge to you.
This process is one of the fastest ways to get XP on Duolingo, and, since lessons keep breaking often, you’ll have an endless supply of points.
Yet another great tool at your disposal is skipping spoken and listening parts. Now and then, you’ll come across a section where you have to pronounce something or listen to a sample sentence and write down what you understood.
This is a great way to complement your learning, as I’m sure that you’re not only using the platform to master a new language in writing, but also to feel comfortable during a conversation. However, if you’re looking for the fastest ways to get XP on Duolingo, skipping these sections can go a long way.
By clicking on “Can’t Speak Now”, or “Can’t Listen Now”, the platform will turn off these learning options and mark that section as cleared, allowing you to advance to the next question. If you only do it for a couple of lessons, you won’t save much time, but within a month, you will have earned a significant amount of extra XP in a shorter period.
Now, I wouldn’t really recommend doing this, since, as I said before, it helps complement your learning process and improve your pronunciation. If I were you, I’d weigh my options and decide what matters most to me – accumulating XP, or working on those areas.
Duolingo’s events come in many shapes and sizes, but they usually consist of groups of several people who get together to practice a specific language. Not to be confused with classes, events are free and not 1-1 experiences.
More often than not, you’ll likely see tens of people joining an online meeting to practice their learning with one or more native speakers. This not only rewards attendants, but also hosts, allowing them to earn more XP and be granted other tools, like streak freezers or even exclusive attires for Duo.
